The winners of the German Packaging Award 2021 have been announced with a premium liquor bottle, manufactured by Stoelzle, taking out top honours in the design & processing category.
The German Packaging Award is one of the most important platforms for packaging innovations in Europe and takes place under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. An independent jury awards the best innovations and solutions in 10 categories.
In their judgment, the jury agreed that both the glass bottle and outer carton box underlined perfectly the product’s value. It also scored points for sustainability through the materials used.
With their 4X50 R.N.P. Superior Premium Rum, the Austrian For Fellows GmbH created an innovative product that meets the highest demands in terms of both content and packaging.
A product in honour of friendship. The world’s first “social rum”. Contemporary but ageless. Global yet placeless. In order to set new standards, one had to question the familiar: the actual quality of rum has little to do with age or origin, but above all with the quality of the sugar cane, the water and the art of distilling. Its co-founder, Hans Reisetbauer, world-famous master distiller, has spent almost a decade defining this new standard for super-premium rum from the ground up – the R.N.P. standard.
The outstanding design was also advanced – in no small way – by the renowned creative director Alex Wiederin (New York). He designed the “X” of the logo, consisting of 2 crossed swords, the symbol of friendship, and is also responsible for the unique shape of the bottle.
The basic bottle design was then refined by the design and development team from Stoelzle Flaconnage, the British production site of the Stoelzle glass group, and optimised for a perfect realisation in glass.
The 4X50 rum bottle is manufactured fully automatically by Stoelzle Flaconnage and impresses with its extra flint glass. It stands out from comparable products with its broad shoulders, which are unique for rum, the luxurious, hand-applied leather label (above) and the solid brass closure. For the outer packaging, a special recycled cardboard from the Austrian paper manufacturer Flatz was chosen, made from FSCE- certified paper waste that is generated in industrial paper production.
The Stoelzle Glass Group is a family-run company with six European and one US production plants.
