Oppo ice cream’s crowdfunding campaign was oversubscribed just minutes after going public on Seedrs, making it the fastest food start-up ever to reach its target. With 197 investing more than £300,000, it was also the most over funded campaign Seedrs has hosted. Oppo, backed by Mark Escolme, Managing Director of Gü Puds, passed its initial £100,000 target within minutes, placing it firmly in the top five fastest campaigns on Seedrs. In order to satisfy the high demand, the company went into overfunding, releasing further equity, to give Oppo fans the opportunity to share in the increasing trend towards healthy indulgence. Oppo rejected an offer from a Venture Capitalist firm and opted for crowdfunding to give both customers and consumers the chance to own a part of this exciting new healthy ice cream. The company will use the capital to satisfy order fulfilment, further grow the team and increase brand awareness in a market where the premium category has increased in value and is worth £275m. The ice cream is vailable in 117 Waitrose stores and on Ocado.com.
