Borough Broth lands £7.5m backing for major scale-up

Borough Broth has secured £7.5 million from leading consumer specialist investor Piper to support its next phase of growth. The funding marks a significant step in the company’s mission to make sustainable, nutrient-rich food mainstream. It will enable Borough Broth to accelerate innovation across new product categories including soups, stocks and gravies, strengthen its senior team, and relocate its manufacturing facility to a new West London site – more than doubling current capacity.

Founded by Ros Heathcote in 2015 with just £6,000 borrowed from a friend, Borough Broth has grown into one of the UK’s fastest-growing organic, B Corp–certified and women-built brands. The company began by reclaiming bones from the meat industry that would otherwise be wasted or used for pet food, transforming them into deeply nourishing organic bone broth. Having raised just £783,000 in angel investment to reach this point, the brand has now achieved annualised revenues of around £11 million and is forecast to exceed £20 million in 2026.

“We have built Borough Broth with great care and discipline,” said Ros Heathcote (pictured above). “I started Borough Broth to help people feel genuinely nourished by real food made the right way, and partnering with Piper means we can bring that mission to even more people. Piper invests in purposeful brands and their shared values genuinely matter to us. This partnership validates how far we have come, and we are energised to grow while staying true to our principles and delivering a strong, sustainable return for Piper’s investors.”

In the past twelve months, Borough Broth has achieved major national listings in Sainsbury’s and Tesco, adding to its established presence in Ocado and Waitrose. The brand’s Sainsbury’s range expanded further this autumn with three new products: Organic Grass-Fed Beef Bone Broth, Organic Free-Range Chicken Pho and Sustainably Caught Wild Fish Bone Broth.

Rory Gibbs, Partner at Piper, said: “Borough Broth is perfectly positioned at the intersection of taste, health, sustainability and convenience. Ros has built a truly special brand with exceptional products and purpose at its heart. We see huge potential to grow Borough Broth into a household name, one that leads the conversation around healthy, nourishing and sustainable eating.”
