Irish chocolatier Lir Chocolates is taking a significant step towards sustainability by introducing fully recyclable paper twist wraps across its popular Baileys Chocolate and Guinness Chocolate Truffle ranges.
The new wraps cover the full Baileys Chocolate range including Original, Salted Caramel, Strawberries and Cream, Mint, Birthday Cake, as well as the Guinness Chocolate Truffles. By switching to recyclable paper twist wraps, Lir Chocolates will remove 13,000kg of non-recyclable plastic from the market annually. This is the equivalent of 66 million fewer plastic wrappers entering the market each year.

These fully recyclable twist wraps represent a significant reduction in non-recyclable materials as Lir Chocolates moves toward more sustainable packaging solutions across its product range. From the classic Baileys and Guinness Original flavours to on-trend flavours including Birthday Cake and Mint, each truffle blends premium chocolate with the signature taste of these beloved brands.
Ethan Duffey, Brand Manager at Lir Chocolates, said: “We’re proud of our long-standing relationship with Baileys and Guinness, delivering indulgent treats across a range of delicious flavours. As part of our commitment to delivering premium treats while reducing our environmental impact, we are delighted to introduce the fully recyclable paper twist wraps for the Baileys and Guinness Truffles.”

He added: “In line with Lir Chocolates’ sustainability strategy, delivering packaging that is better for the planet is the latest initiative as we continue to find greener solutions.”
The recyclable paper wraps not only significantly reduce plastic waste but also provide a tactile, premium feel that enhances the unwrapping experience. This thoughtful packaging design complements the quality of each truffle, making the moment of delicious indulgence even more enjoyable for consumers.
