Lidl has announced a £250m investment to cut prices of everyday items, helping shoppers save even more in the run-up to Christmas.
The retailer has reduced prices on more than 1,000 product lines since the start of the year. This latest initiative complements Lidl Plus, the only loyalty rewards scheme currently offered by a UK discounter.
Richard Bourns, Chief Commercial Officer at Lidl GB, said: “We’re committed to providing our customers with the best value every single day, and our teams work tirelessly throughout the year to deliver this for them. We also firmly believe that everyone should have access to healthy, affordable food, which is why we ensure that we’re offering the lowest prices in the market and it’s why we’re on a mission to bring new Lidl stores to more communities across the country.”
To make more of the festive season, the supermarket has also shared tips to help shoppers navigate the busy festive season. Revealing its opening hours, Lidl confirms all of its stores in GB will be closed on Christmas Day and most stores will also remain closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
The retailer has also released insights into its expected busiest times, predicting that Monday 22 December will be its peak trading day. Shoppers looking to avoid the crowds are advised to visit between 8am and 10am, or after 6pm, which Lidl data shows are typically the quietest times in store.
