Multi-beverage brand owner A.G. Barr has appointed former Formula One coach Bradley Scanes as its new People Performance Director.
Scanes brings over 13 years’ experience coaching some of the world’s most elite athletes, including serving as High Performance Coach and Physiotherapist to four-time Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen. Alongside his work in motorsport, he has supported Olympic athletes in British Gymnastics and basketball, advising teams through their Olympic cycles and helping them build the habits and processes that lead to consistent success.

Alison Gowen, Chief People Officer at A.G. Barr, said: “We know that our people are the key to our success. Bradley’s experience in helping elite athletes achieve their goals will be invaluable in creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This is about backing our colleagues with world-class support, improving our collective capabilities and strengthening our culture to ensure we continue to set the standard in our industry.”
A.G. Barr is home to some of the UK’s most recognised drinks brands, including IRN-BRU, Rubicon, FUNKIN and Boost. The strategic appointment, which takes effect from 10 December 2025, reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to creating an environment where its people can excel.
“Working in Formula One has shown me how small changes in habits, culture and process can deliver world-class results,” said Scanes. “A.G. Barr is a prestigious business with incredible brands and talented people, and I am excited to help unlock even more of that untapped potential. Together, we can take the business to new heights.”
