Aldi asks shoppers: where should we open next?

Aldi is calling on the British public to help shape its store expansion plans by nominating where the next wave of stores should open.

The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket has launched a nationwide appeal, inviting customers to suggest towns and areas in need of an Aldi. The most in-demand locations will be reviewed as part of the retailer’s mission to grow its estate from 1,050 to over 1,500 stores.

Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “We’ve always believed that great quality food should be within everyone’s reach and many communities would therefore still benefit from having an Aldi nearby.”

He added: “We’re always looking at key places where we see potential, but we also want to hear directly from the public about where the demand is greatest. Their input is invaluable as we continue to grow and bring Aldi’s unbeatable value to more areas across Britain.”

The campaign follows a successful 2024 initiative that saw areas like London, Manchester and Derbyshire prioritised. Aldi has already secured planning permission for a store in Brimington, near Chesterfield, as a result.

New stores are already in the pipeline for Ashford (Kent), Eastbourne (Sussex) and Caterham (Surrey) – part of Aldi’s strategic push into the South East.

Submissions are open until Sunday 8th June. To put a location forward, email NextNewStore@aldi.co.uk with the town name in the subject line.

Aldi will reveal the most-requested areas later this year.
