Nelsons is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of natural products and, since opening the doors of its pharmacy in 1860, is Europe’s longest established provider of homeopathic products.
Nelsons has developed and evolved over the past 150 years, from a pharmacy to a global manufacturer with category leading brands distributed in nearly 70 countries and subsidiary offices in Boston, USA; Hamburg, Germany and Monaco.
Nelsons started as a Mayfair Pharmacy in 1860, where Ernst Armbrecht and Charlotte Nelson made up homeopathic remedies for their customers and provided expert advice. The family business was well-established and known for its customer service and products for many years, so they were approached by Dr Bach himself when he founded his system of Bach Original Flower Remedies in the 1930’s. First they helped with distribution and then manufacturing the popular range which includes RESCUE Remedy.
Growing family of products
The current owners, the Wilsons, have a long-standing and passionate commitment to complementary medicine which has driven them to develop and grow key brands and now, there are manufacturing facilities in Snowdonia, Wales and Wimbledon, London. Products include Teetha teething granules, the Arnicare arnica range, homeopathic Clikpaks and Nelsons Creams and Formulated ranges which are sold in large national pharmacy chains, independent pharmacies and healthfood stores, online retailers and grocers.
They acquired brands that fit the ethos and values of the company and many of their products have become category leaders around the world. For example, the RESCUE brand ranks category leader in the UK, USA, Germany and France. The Nelsons’ family of products continues to grow with the most recent additions being Spatone, a natural liquid iron supplement.
Nelsons has a culture of compliance and continuous improvement in quality, regulations and health and safety. It works with the authorities in every country it distributes to, ensuring adherence to their high standards, including the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Food and Drugs Agency (FDA) to ensure they’re here in another 150 years.
