Future of packaging showcase

Packaging Innovations and Empack 2022 will reunite the packaging community when it returns to NEC Birmingham on 25 and 26 May.

Attended by brands such as Next, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s. the event will also feature suppliers from across the entire packaging process, from the initial design and product development stages through to packing, filling, and fulfilment. It all adds up to an unmissable show for visitors across the FMCG industries, regardless of where they work in the supply chain.

New Innovations

Many exhibitors will be using the event to launch their latest innovations and concepts to the UK market, with an array of products designed specifically for the FMCG community.

Notably, Lactips will launch its Plastic Free Paper – a fully recyclable and compostable solution for industrial food applications. The coating provides a barrier to oxygen, fats, and mineral oils.

Excelerate will display its ‘Flow’ film, a unique perforated stretch product. The film is designed for light to medium pallets and its aerated design uses minimal plastic to reduce environmental impact. The aeration further allows products to breathe during transit, by eradicating moisture and condensation build-up.

Expac will promote its wide range of products designed for use in the personal care and household sectors, including bottles, tubes, jars, and glassware. The company has further invested in its sustainability credentials by developing a range of bag-in-box refill products that can house a variety of common personal care products, such as powder, oils, emulsions, and liquids.

New Vision Packaging will present a selection of luxury folding cartons, available to brands and retailers operating in the cosmetic and beauty markets. New Vision has worked alongside Ted Baker, Seksy, and Porsche to create personal care packaging which adds value to both brands and end-user.

Event Features

In conjunction with the packed exhibitor line-up, Packaging Innovations and Empack 2022 will host a dynamic speaker programme, held across three stages. Manufacturing, processing, and logistics professionals will be catered for by The Empack Technology Stage, whilst the latest industry insights affecting packaging designers, agencies, and technologists can be heard on The Innovation and Design Stage or The Ecopack Stage. The Ecopack Stage will also host the sustainable packaging initiative; The Ecopack Challenge. The Dragon’s Den-style competition will make a strong return with a refined eligibility criteria and an expert panel of judges including Ocado and Pret A Manger.

The Big Debate, one of the event’s headline sessions, will tackle the latest in packaging regulations, such as the Plastic Packaging Tax and Extended Producer Responsibility, within the context of external driving forces.

Renan Joel, Easyfairs’ Divisional Director, said: “After 18 months without the Birmingham event, we have so many exciting things planned for this year, and we are excited to welcome some huge names such as Next, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s. Our exhibitors will cover every aspect of the packaging supply chain, demonstrating the latest innovation and cutting-edge tech within the sector.
