BEEFSY: A Study in Sausage was staged at 15 Bateman Street, London, last month and featured re-creations of famous work, with new interpretations of beef culture including. These included bejewelled custom leather jackets, a recreation of Warhol’s classic replacing Marylin’s looks with Beef Peperami’s horn, an interpretation of Lady Gaga’s meat dress using hundreds of Peperami wrappers and ‘The Dreaded Peperami Army’, a comical and macabre work by upcoming artist Chloe Sumner.
Those attending the free exhibition also received bags of free samples and were able to attend the charity auction of all the works, proceeds of which were in aid of homeless charity, Glass Door.
Glass Door partners with churches to give shelter and support. As London’s largest emergency winter night shelter, Glass Door provides a safe, warm place to sleep for at least 100 men and women every night in winter, from November to early April. It also provides hot suppers and breakfast in the morning, cooked and served by volunteers.
