British manufacturer of high quality volumetric depositors and filling machines, Riggs Autopack Ltd, has now become one of the UK’s leading manufacturers in its field thanks to an increase in sales and demand for its filling machines. So much so, that the company has now moved to a new, purpose built 50,000 sq ft factory.
Riggs Autopack Ltd’s origin dates back to the early 1930’s. It is a proud member of The Fort Vale Group, a Rolls Royce plc approved supplier, member of the PPMA, and an ISO 9001:2008 registered firm with BestCERT quality ‘Gold’ customer satisfaction accreditation.
Riggs designs and builds its filling machinery in-house at its Nelson factory and supplies to food producers ranging from start-up companies and cottage industries, through to multi-national groups and international factories.
During the past five years, owing to its structured sales, marketing and production plan, coupled with its talented staff and customer service approach, it has experienced substantial growth year on year in terms of new machine sales and hire. It has also received a number of coveted awards. These include Company of The Year for two years in a row (2011 and 2012) by Business & Industry Today for outstanding product sales, marketing success and customer service; Industry Excellence 2012 for its contribution to the food production industry; Manufacturer of the Year at the Pendle Business Awards 2014.
The move to the new factory has given Riggs Autopack room to further expand, gain new orders, and recruit key personnel.
Technical Director at Fort Vale, David Smith, who project managed the move into the new factory, said: “There is room to take on many more projects at the same time and do much more machining and fabrication. This in turn means we can move forward far quicker. It will open up all sorts of opportunities for the future.”
As part of the company’s future growth strategy, it continues to invest in manufacturing and key personnel. During 2014, it has recruited a number of additional personnel within production. These include a Works Manager, 2 CNC operatives, and a shop floor apprentice.
As part of the company’s 2015/16 business strategy, it recently re-branded by introducing a new company logo and corporate brochures.
In addition to this, Riggs Autopack is continuously seeking to maximise manufacturing efficiency and has recently purchased a number of new CNC and Milling machinery. These give substantial flexibility in the production of Riggs’ filling machine components, thus providing a reduction in operation costs, savings that can be passed on to the customer.
General Manager Nigel Matthews said. “We are extremely proud of the high quality depositors and filling machines we manufacture for the food industry. Riggs Autopack is a customer focused, people and team driven company. It’s due to the right people being recruited in the right departments that we owe our success.
“All these factors in conjunction with the move to our new factory and the implementation of our recent new marketing business strategy, can only help us to keep growing further and maintain our market position.” n
